How To Pray

A Simple Guide to Prayer

Prayer is simply talking with God. You don’t need perfect words, just an open and sincere heart. Here are three simple ways to help guide your prayer life.

The ACTS Method of Prayer

The ACTS method is an easy way to structure your prayers.

A – Adoration

Begin by praising God for who He is. Worship Him for His holiness, love, mercy, faithfulness, and power.

Example:

“Father, I worship You because You are holy, faithful, loving, and worthy of all praise. Thank You for being my Creator, Savior, and King.”

C – Confession

Confess your sins honestly and ask God for forgiveness. Receive His grace and choose to forgive others.

Example:

“Lord, forgive me for the sins I have committed in my thoughts, words, and actions. Cleanse my heart and help me to walk in obedience to You.”

T – Thanksgiving

Thank God for His blessings, answered prayers, protection, provision, family, salvation, and His faithfulness.

Example:

“Thank You for Your love, mercy, grace, and for all You have done in my life. Thank You for providing for me and never leaving me.”

S – Supplication

Bring your requests before God. Pray for yourself, your family, your church, your community, and others in need.

Example:

“Lord, give me wisdom, strength, peace, and guidance. Bless my family, my church, and those who need Your healing, comfort, and salvation.”

Praying Through the Lord’s Prayer

Jesus gave us the Lord’s Prayer as a model for how to pray.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.

Begin by worshipping God and honoring His holy name.

Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Surrender your plans to God and ask Him to accomplish His will in your life.

Give us this day our daily bread.

Ask God to provide for your daily physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.

Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

Confess your sins, receive God’s forgiveness, and forgive those who have wronged you.

Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Ask God for wisdom, strength, and protection against temptation and the attacks of the enemy.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Close your prayer by praising God and declaring your trust in His power and sovereignty.

Prayer of Salvation

Heavenly Father,

I come to You today acknowledging that I am a sinner and that I need Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son, that He died on the cross for my sins, and that He rose again so that I could have eternal life. Today I repent of my sins and place my faith in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.

Thank You for forgiving me, making me a new creation, and welcoming me into Your family. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me to follow You every day of my life.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Praying Through Psalm 23

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being my Shepherd. I trust You to lead me, provide for me, and give me peace in every season of life. Lead me beside still waters and restore my soul when I am weary.

Guide me in paths of righteousness so that my life brings glory to Your name. Even when I walk through difficult seasons, help me to remember that You are with me. Let Your presence give me courage, comfort, and strength.

Thank You for preparing a place of blessing, for anointing my life with Your favor, and for filling my heart with hope. I declare that Your goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in Your presence forever.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
